Description

This course is part of AGA's Federal Financial Management Course Library and is presented by Wendy M. Payne, CGFM, CPA.

Course description:

Federal departments and agencies operate in accordance with laws and regulations.  The Constitution and a patchwork of laws dating to the early 1900s provide the foundation for financial operations and reporting. General familiarity with this foundation is essential for all financial managers and auditors working in the federal government arena.

This course introduces the foundation by explaining the relevant constitutional clauses and key legislation, as well as the regulations promulgated by central agencies. Central agencies are those responsible for directing and overseeing government operations—the Office of Management and Budget, the U.S. Department of the Treasury, and the Government Accountability Office.

This course is designed for financial professionals at all levels and would be suitable for non-financial professionals as well.

Course format:

The course consists of video lectures, knowledge checks, reference materials (glossary and PowerPoint slides handout) and a final assessment (exam). A score of 70% on the final assessment is required to earn 2.5 CPE hours.

Course access:

Online access is required to view this course, and videos may not be downloaded. Access to this course will expire 90 days from the date of purchase or if the final assessment is taken three times.
